Why Must Communicable Diseases Be Reported Communicable Diseases
Communicable diseases is a prevalent topic in our society today. As we strive to maintain our health and keep our surroundings clean, it is important to be aware of the common diseases that can be easily transmitted from one person to another. In this article, we will be discussing some of the most common communicable diseases reported in schools. Firstly, let's define what communicable diseases are. These are illnesses that can be easily transmitted from an infected person to another through various means such as direct contact with bodily fluids, touching contaminated surfaces, or inhaling contaminated air. Some of the most common communicable diseases are flu, common colds, chickenpox, measles, tuberculosis, and meningitis. In Clark County schools, the most common communicable diseases reported are flu, strep throat, gastroenteritis, chickenpox, and conjunctivitis. These diseases can easily spread from one student to another especially in schools where a large number of children are in close contact with each other. Flu is a viral infection that affects the nose, throat, and lungs. Its symptoms include fever, body aches, cough, and sore throat. It can spread easily through contact with an infected person's bodily fluids or through inhaling the air carrying the virus. Strep throat, on the other hand, is a bacterial infection that affects the throat and tonsils. Its symptoms include sore throat, difficulty swallowing, fever, and swollen glands in the neck. It can spread through contact with an infected person's saliva or nasal secretions. Gastroenteritis is an infection that affects the stomach and intestines and is commonly referred to as the stomach flu. Its symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramps, and fever. It can spread through contact with an infected person's feces or vomit. Chickenpox is a viral infection that causes a blister-like rash, itching, fever, and fatigue. It can spread through contact with an infected person's skin or breathing in an infected person's respiratory droplets. Conjunctivitis, commonly known as pink eye, is an infection of the eye that causes redness, itchiness, discharge, and swelling. It can spread through contact with an infected person's eye secretions. To prevent the spread of these diseases, it is important to practice good hygiene such as washing hands frequently, covering your mouth and nose with a tissue or your elbow when coughing or sneezing, and avoiding close contact with people who are sick. In conclusion, communicable diseases are a serious concern especially in schools where a large number of children are in close contact with each other. It is important to take the necessary precautions to prevent the spread of these diseases and to seek medical attention when necessary. Let us all work together to keep our schools and communities healthy and safe.
