But we're going to try to make this post fun anyway, okay?) So, did you know that there are different types of lung cancer? It's true! There's non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and small cell lung cancer (SCLC). And knowing which type you have is important because it can affect your treatment options. Let's start with NSCLC. This type of lung cancer is the most common, accounting for about 85% of cases. (Fun fact: the other 15% is SCLC. Math!) NSCLC can be further broken down into different subtypes based on the specific cells that are affected. Now let's talk about SCLC. This type of lung cancer is less common but more aggressive. It tends to grow and spread quickly, so catching it early is really important. (That's why lung cancer screening is so important!) SCLC is also more likely to respond to chemotherapy, which is good news for anyone who gets diagnosed with it. Speaking of screening, have you seen that there's a debate going on about whether insurance should cover lung cancer screening? Some people argue that it's too expensive and not necessary for everyone. But we say, come on, people! Catching cancer early can save lives!
